How do you practice self-care?

When the spirit is well, it becomes easier to keep the human aspect healthy too. Mind, body, and emotions must also be exercised daily to achieve true well-being. Self-care begins with spirituality. The first thing we must keep healthy is our faith and our connection with God.

Thirty minutes of daily meditation—in silence and full concentration—is the best way to start the day. It’s important to find a moment and space at home for this essential practice. It lays the foundation on which good health is built. Mornings are usually the most suitable time.

Thirty minutes a day of walking, cardio, or strength training is more than enough. There are countless resources offering advice on the types of exercises we should do. They also suggest the food we should prepare. Additionally, they explain the rest our body needs to make the most of physical activity. Let’s avoid putting things in our bodies that do more harm than good. Deep down, we each know what we should consume and what to avoid—we can’t fool ourselves in that regard.

Thirty minutes a day spent learning a new skill helps exercise our minds. A new language, a hobby, or professional development topics are among the most recommended activities. Reading a book daily—preferably in another language—is excellent mental training. Social media and streaming should be kept to a limit.

Thirty minutes of generosity, kindness, courtesy, good humor, and smiling helps us nourish our emotions. Let’s incorporate actions that strengthen emotional well-being and resist being overtaken by negative feelings like anger, sadness, or envy. A kind word to a loved one in the morning takes just a few seconds. A warm attitude at work can contribute meaningfully to our emotional health. An act of generosity on the street nurtures our inner peace.

Just two hours a day devoted to these habits can transform our lives forever.
