I have deep admiration for all professions that care for the most vulnerable members of society. This includes doctors who treat people with disabilities. It also includes caregivers in nursing homes who look after the elderly. But among all these noble vocations, the ones I admire most are those that nurture, teach, and work with children.

There is no task more noble, nor more vital to the future of humanity, than working with children. The seeds planted in a child’s early years shape the tree that child will one day become. Societies today reap what they sowed in their children twenty years ago.

It’s both ironic and heartbreaking. This beautiful calling carries immense responsibility. It is so often undervalued and underpaid across the world. This is especially true in poorer countries, where it’s needed most.
