If I had to design the city of the future, it wouldn’t be massive urban centers filled with skyscrapers like we might imagine New York or London in the year 2125. To me, humanity will reconsider its path and restore the planet after all the damage we have caused since the 20th century. Humanity will return to the countryside and to nature. The cities of the future will be small towns of no more than 10,000 families, where self‑sufficiency and renewable energy prevail.

These small towns will generate power through very safe, small nuclear plants, and much of their energy will also come from solar panels. Water will be one of the greatest treasures, and its use will be fundamental to preserving life. These towns will dedicate themselves responsibly to agriculture and livestock, providing food and sustenance for the entire community. All human activities will be supported by Artificial Intelligence, which will be the most sophisticated technology ever used.

Each town will have its own authorities and local laws. All towns will be federated under a single global order and will abide by worldwide laws and regulations. The concept of countries could disappear, and the world would operate under a federal system responsible for the well‑being of all towns. Crime and delinquency levels would be nearly nonexistent. Cultural development and technological knowledge among people would be very high. Extreme poverty, inequality, and environmental pollution would be topics studied in schools, just as we study the Spanish Inquisition or antisemitism today. Human development and wealth distribution indexes would be very high across all towns.

I know it sounds utopian, but this is my vision — and it is how I would design the urban centers of the future, based on societies that understood that the only way to survive is to work together and cooperate.
