What could you do more of?
There’s always more we can do.
We can always become better people—better professionals, fathers, sons, friends, brothers. We can always be kinder, more generous, eat better, sleep better, exercise more, or read more books. There is always more.
If we constantly think about all the things we should do, we end our lives feeling uncomfortable. This is the consequence of overthinking. It’s the unsettling feeling that we can do more—and don’t.
I believe there’s a better question to ask:
Did I do more today than I did yesterday?
If the answer is yes, then it doesn’t matter how much more we still have left to do.
Today, we are better than we were yesterday. This is the constant that should guide our lives. We need the discipline and perseverance to become a better human being each day than we were the day before.
The only constant… is change.
