What makes a good neighbor?

Respect and empathy.

We should put ourselves in the shoes of those who live near us. We should ask: what if what we do to others were done to us? The cleanliness of our sidewalk shows our culture. How we treat our pets reflects our character. The visual and noise pollution we create provides insight into our character. The scandals and excesses within our own home show our culture. All of these elements speak volumes about our culture and our character.

Some people show no respect for others. They hide behind the excuse: ā€œI’m in my house and I do whatever I want.ā€ They are mistaken.

First, we must learn to be good neighbors within our own home. Then, we can start to think about being a positive force in the community. This involves actively contributing to safety. It also means cooperating to keep the neighborhood clean and beautiful. Additionally, it includes taking an active role in social outreach and community events.
