We come from a conservative family in which we still preserve many of the traditions celebrated by our grandparents. Perhaps the main tradition we maintain is gathering every weekend to have lunch together and catch up on all the events of the week. It’s a tradition my parents kept with theirs, and now my siblings and I continue to celebrate it.

Another tradition is alternating each year between Christmas and New Year’s gatherings. My family never celebrates both in the same year.
Finally, we also uphold religious traditions—the rituals and the food are carried out just as they were 100 years ago. Even those of us who are not religious, like myself, actively participate in these celebrations as part of family integration.
