If you could have something named after you, what would it be?
Many people want to immortalize themselves. They aspire to leave their mark engraved on the entrance of the places where they carried out their great work. Some get that honor with full merit. Others, like certain politicians or millionaires, simply want to stretch their ego. They aim to achieve in stone what they couldn’t manage in life with the people they loved.
First, I want to be remembered in the minds of my family and friends long after I leave this world. If I can’t achieve that, what’s the point of having my name on a street, a plaza, or a building? Nature is wise, and many of those plaques end up serving as resting spots for pigeons. I want my memory to live on in the hearts of those who crossed paths with me. I hope they remember me as the person I truly am. Though I have virtues and flaws, I tried to give the best of myself. I respected others and nature, and I helped whenever I could.
If my name is ever to endure somewhere, I would like it to be on a quiet, peaceful place. It should be a remote mountain. It’s a place where I would love to spend the last years of my life. If my family and friends remember my name each time they pass through that place, then I believe my mission in this life will have been fulfilled.
