I think the most profound advice anyone ever gave me was when they made me believe that, at 24, I was ready to get married. I listened to that person. The following year, I got married. Thirteen years later, I was getting divorced. I don’t regret following that advice. Those were thirteen wonderful years, and the result of that chapter in my life are my two children, whom I adore.
