What’s something you’d love to see in the future, but know you probably won’t live to witness?
The advances in AI are unstoppable and are moving forward at a staggering pace. If God allows it, I will reach the year 2050 watching how artificial‑intelligence algorithms have surpassed the boundaries of software to become biotechnology capable of integrating with the human body and making extraordinary predictions. It’s not unreasonable to think that in a couple of decades humans may have integrated components in our bodies capable of detecting chronic diseases before any symptoms appear. Or even more: AI will be able to detect changes in our emotional state and recommend related activities. For example, if we are sad or depressed, it could suggest a playlist and a workout, or help us prepare our favorite dish to lift our spirits. If we are very angry, AI will probably prevent us from operating machines that could harm us or harm others.
What may lie beyond 2050 is difficult to know. Many jobs will be replaced by AI, and many new ones will emerge. It’s unlikely that humans will fall behind machines, because it is extremely difficult to match the precision with which we handle emotions and interact with one another. Whether I am right or not is something I may never get to witness in my lifetime.
