I don’t remember finding clichés in books. That’s the magic of literature. The narrative begins to describe a story, and the reader creates the images and situations in their own mind. In the reader’s imagination, clichés rarely exist.

It’s not the same with series or films, where it’s much harder to spark the viewer’s imagination. Perhaps the most annoying cliché in movies is that typical moment when the hero has the chance to put an end to the villain’s evil but doesn’t do it, leaving the door open for the story to continue.

Of course—if I have a good story, why would I want to kill a terrific villain so quickly.
