What could you let go of, for the sake of harmony?
Definitely, My Past.
Every past experience was either a triumph or a lesson. Nothing happened by chance, and each situation left us with moments of joy, delight, sorrow, or pain—etched into our memory as either trophies or scars. And just like trophies that gather dust on a forgotten shelf, or scars that once hurt but eventually healed and marked our skin, the past fades—forgotten in the pursuit of new victories, and with a tougher spirit ready to face new wounds.
If we cling to the past, we fail to live in the present. We become blind to the new opportunities and experiences each day brings. We try to relive old achievements or repeatedly feel the same pain that once shaped our lives. That destroys our present and keeps us from living fully. We are wiser and stronger because of our past—so long as we learn to let it go.
The past is a heavy chain we drag wherever we go, slowing our steps. It’s time to release that anchor and be free of all that binds us. It’s time to walk away from that dark cloud that keeps the sun of the present from shining fully upon our lives.
