How would you describe yourself to someone?

I think this question only comes up in two situations:

  1. During a job interview
  2. In a therapy session.

In either case, we need to be ready to answer it — whether to present ourselves professionally or to help the doctor gauge just how crazy we might be.

For this Daily Prompt, I’ll stick to the first scenario: describing myself in a job interview. Which, frankly, is just a summary of what I try to express on my résumé .

I got my start quite young, while still halfway through my college degree. I was fortunate to learn from exceptional mentors and quickly became captivated by the world of IT. Certification after certification opened doors, allowing my supervisors to entrust me with increasingly significant projects. Back then, the Internet was just beginning to gain traction. Resources relevant to my profession were scarce — learning meant digging through hefty technical manuals or diving straight into hands-on experience. Artificial intelligence was still a myth reserved for science fiction films.

Now, after 28 years, I’ve come a long way — and still have plenty to learn. I’m deeply passionate about what I do and take genuine pride when an IT project is on the right track. It’s rewarding to see my work meaningfully contribute to business goals, where technology aligns and adapts synergistically to the organization’s vision.
I relish the symphony of a well-ordered, efficient data centers — sometimes I picture tiny Minions working in sync, dedicated to the company’s mission.

I love working in teams, and I love teaching what I know — it’s one reason I write this blog. I’ve collaborated with young professionals just getting started, and with seasoned veterans who have seen it all. And I always learn, because this thrilling world of IT never stops evolving.

So here we are. For those of us who live and breathe IT with this kind of passion, I think it all boils down to Steve Jobs’ iconic phrase:

“One more thing…”
