How do you relax?

Reading.

I love reading—I finish one book and promptly start another. Every night, I read for 30 minutes before going to sleep. When the house and neighborhood settle into a relative calm—not total silence—I play classical music in my reading nook. I dim the lights and immerse myself in the pages.

This ritual usually lasts about 30 minutes. Yet, depending on how hectic the day has been, my eyes start to close after just 20 minutes. I then can’t go on. Other times, those 30 minutes stretch into a full hour.

I enjoy this activity so much, and it relaxes me so deeply, that it helps me sleep far better.
