I believe that in any language, the word that expresses gratitude is the most beautiful in the entire vocabulary. It is a profoundly thorough word. It conveys humility. It brings an awareness that we should never take for granted what others do for us. We should also not take for granted what we ourselves do for others. Gratitude is both given and received. Both “thanks” and “sorry” form the foundation of every human relationship, which is respect and appreciation.

In the same way, gratitude should be the first word we say each day, because every sunrise is a blessing.
