In what ways does hard work make you feel fulfilled?
It’s comforting to come home after a long day of hard work and know that things are going well. Little stress in our lives is OK. Yet, hard work is only justified if that effort leads to a life lived in fullness. What’s the point of working hard? It has no value if we don’t spend time with family everyday. It is pointless if we don’t see our friends often. How can we justify hard work if we don’t engage daily in activities that truly make us feel happy. These activities bring us fulfillment. They are our passion and mission.
Well-paid hard work should support our happiness and that of our family—not the other way around. We are happy because we live fully. Our happiness also comes from our family’s happiness. That happiness is what gives meaning to those endless, exhausting days at the office.
We work to live, not live to work.
