Describe an item you were incredibly attached to as a youth. What became of it?

I remember that in my childhood and teenage years I listened to a lot of music. At first, on vinyl records, which weren’t very portable. Later, with the rise of cassettes and Walkman players, carrying music everywhere became much easier. What we now call playlists used to be dozens of cassettes where you recorded the best songs. I remember that whenever, I carried my music and my tapes everywhere. The sound quality was poor. The tapes would get tangled. They also had to be rewound by hand (with a pen). Despite these issues, the 80s were truly incredible.

Then in the 90s, CDs appeared, offering higher fidelity music. They took up less space, you automatically played whichever song you wanted, and they didn’t get tangled. Before long, you even made your own CDs with the best tracks. Still, having enjoyed the best music of the 80s on cassette is a privilege that today’s generations wouldn’t understand.

I’ll take a trip to my parents’ house. Maybe I’ll find my old cassettes. My Walkman is hidden at the bottom of some trunk among the family photo albums.
