I’ve always enjoyed making or repairing things around the house. If I can do it myself, I go ahead. I don’t wait to hire a professional for basic tasks, like certain electrical, plumbing, or carpentry jobs. At home I have a decent assortment of tools, and I’m enthusiastic about learning new techniques. When things get more complex (for example, masonry), or when I really don’t have the time, I hire professional help.

The most ambitious projects I’ve taken on have been painting and interior decoration. They’re ambitious because they need many days. Usually you have to move a lot of furniture or completely empty the rooms. This creates inconvenience for the people living in the house during that time. Once the work is finished, the satisfaction is enormous, knowing that you did it yourself.
