There are questions that are uncomfortable no matter who asks them or under what circumstances. For example, if someone asks a man how much he weighs, it usually doesn’t bother us. Asking about his age is also typically fine. But if you ask the same question to most women, you’d better be ready for a murderous glare.

If there’s one question I absolutely hate being asked, it’s: How much do you make? I think it’s one of the most intrusive and out‑of‑place questions you can ask anyone. In my opinion, that question should never be asked, regardless of someone’s financial situation. When someone asks me that, I instantly label that person as childish and immature. Among adults, you simply don’t ask things like that.
