I’m not a fan of pets. I have nothing against animals, but I simply don’t have the time or space in my life to have them. They demand a lot from their owners. You really have to think twice before deciding to get a pet, especially when people have other priorities.

If I had no choice but to take in a pet, the decision would depend on where I live. If I live in the city, where space is limited and my neighbor’s house is just a few meters away, the best option is a cat. Cats are like teenagers. They stay awake all night and only look for their owner during the day when they’re hungry. They’re clean and don’t make a mess where they live. They’re independent and don’t need much care. If they’re perfectly adapted to their litter box, they can live in very small spaces without their presence being too noticeable.

On the other hand, if I live in the countryside, where I have plenty of space and my closest neighbor is far away, the best choice is a dog. Dogs are like babies. They’re sweet, affectionate, and loyal, but they smell terrible and make a mess where they live. A house needs twice as much cleaning when there are dogs around. That’s why they’re better suited for places surrounded by nature. As for other types of pets like birds, fish, hamsters or iguanas, it hasn’t even crossed my mind what it would be like to have them.

Again, all of this is just speculation. My life is perfectly fine without pets, and that’s how I plan to keep it for as long as possible.
