What brings you peace?
Being with Myself
I don’t want to be misunderstood. I love my children and my family. I cherish being with them. I enjoy my work and spending time with my friends. But, nothing brings me more peace and serenity than the moments I can spend with myself. Only in silence, meditation, and solitude can I truly connect with God. It is during these times that I give thanks to the Universe for all my blessings. I also bring order to my thoughts.
It’s so difficult nowadays to find that much-needed silence—especially in cities that never sleep, where distractions are constant. It is essential to carve out that quiet moment each day. This helps fill the body, mind, and emotions with peace and calm.
It’s true that some places make it easier to find that peace. These include sanctuaries or beautiful natural settings. We think that peace only exists in those places. But peace doesn’t come from anything external; it lives within us. We must learn to find it wherever we are. Visiting sacred places is always good. Being in touch with nature is beneficial. Still, we can’t become dependent on beautiful surroundings to feel at peace. We must learn to be happy with ourselves, no matter where we are.
For me, it’s easier to find peace in silence. I find it in the chill of morning and the mist of the highlands and the mountains. I savor a freshly brewed cup of coffee. But I also find peace in the noise, the chaos, and the bustle of the city. We must learn to choose those moments of solitude at home and spiritually reconnect with our inner selves.
