If you didn’t need sleep, what would you do with all the extra time?
I don’t feel like I’m short on time. My day starts at 6AM and goes until it ends at 10PM. I go to bed with the sense that I’ve accomplished everything I set out to do. I need 7 or 8 hours of sleep each day. This isn’t negotiable. I work in IT, where long days with minimal sleep are common.
If I didn’t need to sleep, I think I would read more. I would write more too. These are activities I usually leave for the end of the day. Sometimes I feel I don’t give them as much time as I’d like.
In any case, there’s nothing like starting the day with both mind and body rested and fresh. Being ready for that first cup of coffee in the morning is invigorating.
