What’s a common misconception people have about happiness?
I believe the biggest misconception people have about happiness is thinking it is a moment in the past or a dream in the future. For example, people say things like “I was so happy when I was a child and had no responsibilities,” “I was so happy in my first relationship,” or “When I get a new car or buy my first house, I’ll finally be happy.”
Happiness is not tied to the past or the future because neither of them truly exists. Happiness is a decision we make today, in the present. Happiness is an attitude that walks with us throughout the day. Happiness begins every morning when we wake up grateful for all the things we already have.
