How can you build a regular fitness routine?
We have to admit it: building a regular exercise routine is hard for everyone. Even people who already have some consistency struggle to maintain it. Those who almost never exercise try it for a day or two and say, “This isn’t for me” all over again. Like any other good habit, the key is discipline. Getting through the first 3 or 4 weeks is the hardest part.
You need to take small steps at the beginning before attempting bigger things. During the first 30 days, start with simple routines: choose a time of day, put on the right clothes and shoes, go for a walk, dance at home — even if it’s just 15 minutes, it’s a start. At the beginning, the important thing isn’t the exercise itself, but creating the habit of dedicating 30 minutes a day to this essential activity.
Being consistent and strict with ourselves is the key. It’s a personal moment; nothing and no one should interrupt it. During the first month, it should feel more like recreational activities than actual exercise. After 30 days, your body is used to the routine, and you’re much more likely to continue with more intense activities.
