If you could relive one year of your life, which one would it be?
If I could relive one year of my life, I wouldn’t choose any. I’ve had wonderful years—like the year I lived abroad after graduating from high school, the year I started my first job, or the year I finished university. The year I got married, or the years my children were born. I’ve been fortunate. You could say that, with a few exceptions, every year has been better than the one before.
However, despite the unforgettable memories I carry, no year is better than the present. There is nothing in the past that interests me enough to relive it. Each year has given me immense joys and hard lessons. These experiences are what allow me to live fully in the present. The past does not exist, and all those memories are carried away by the wind. What remains in our memory is what we felt and what we made others feel. What stays in our minds and hearts are those images that return in moments of solitude and awareness.
We must make this year—and every year—the best of our lives.
